After immigrating from the UK with my family as a child, I was raised on a small farm where my love for animals grew strong as did my experience with many different species.

I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2000, and over the following 13 years worked in Christchurch clinics such as The Carlton Veterinary Hospital, Animates Pet Doctors, and St Albans Veterinary Clinic. My final Christchurch position before moving to Auckland, was 2.5 years as veterinary nurse and practice manager for 'At The Vets' on Brougham Street. During my years in Christchurch I also enjoyed working as a tour guide and commentator for the Southern Encounter Aquarium, and as a keeper and tour guide for the Willowbank Wildlife Park. My partner and I moved to Auckland in 2013 and I spent the following 2.5 years working as head vet nurse for Royal Oak Vet Care and the Vet Care group. I am loving working as a locum and mobile vet nurse with Vet Nurse Services!

I have a large interest in animal behaviour, and have attended numerous extra studies including completing the Massey University Principles of Canine Behaviour paper, attending Positive Reinforcement or Operant Conditioning workshops with Kerrie Haynes-Lovell and Kirsti Serksel, and post-grad vet nursing studies with Nicole Eltringham Young MSc. I also have a passion for Wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, which regularly has me tending to recuperating hedgehogs and wild birds.

I have been nursing since 2002 and qualified as a DVN in 2004. Prior to this I was retraining and schooling horses, grooming in dressage stables, and breaking in young horses. After making the decision to change course I jumped wholeheartedly into my new career as a vet nurse. I started out in the wonderful Beach Road Vet Clinic and then moved on from there to South Auckland Vet Hospital, Auckland Vet Centre – gaining experience in the equine hospital, Manukau After Hours, Vetcare Grey Lynn and the Animal Emergency Centre

I took a break from nursing full time in 2011 and became a veterinary pharmaceuticals rep for Norbrook Animal Health and more recently for Animal Health Direct. I have covered the upper North Island working with both large and companion animal vets, as well at Farm stores and saddleries.

To keep my hand in with nursing I joined an Emergency clinic in 2012 as a casual staff member. This helped me retain my love for nursing and my desire to get back into it full time at some stage.

I finally joined Veterinary Nurse Services in January 2017, and have been flat out, working with so many different clinics around Auckland. I am loving life as a locum!

My passions are horse riding, where I spend most of my spare time, and running when I have a moment.

Naturally I am surrounded by animals – Dogs, cats, horses, cattle, fish.
